Someone has GOT to know what these symptoms, progressively starting and increasing over the past 7 mos mean!!!!

These symptoms have started over the past 7 mos. None have gone away, though they are not all active 100% of the time. New ones just keep appearing. AHHH! Something is definitely WRONG:

~ Here's ME ~
*27 year old female
*110-120 lbs.
*Take daily- 40mg Prozac & 80mg Adderall

~ Here's What's Going On ~
*Pain in joints- fingers, wrists, shoulders, hips, elbows & toes
*Feet turn dark purple & lose sensation
*Small pin ****k like red dots under skin on legs & ankles
*Night Sweats
*Fevers & Headaches in the evenings
*Sore muscles
*Nausea
*THIS IS NEW! ~ Legs feel....I don't know whether to say "weak" or "heavy". I guess both- like my knee are not strong enough to easily bring me to stand, and then don't have the capacity to keep supporting me, once I'm up.

Please feel free to ask about anything else. I do have some other symptoms, but they're not as prominent as the ones I've listed, & I'm not sure whether or not they are related. This is really getting bad though. I feel like I'm pretty rapidly deteriorating(I mean for 27 years old!!).

  • I have suffered for two years with disabling pain, to the point of needign help with everything from standing up to opening a cola bottle. I have gotten to a point of being able to deal with the pain but it has only gotten worse over time. I am sorry that I am not able to help anymore than that but I am very willing to help you and I locate and answer. It seems to me that the doctors are not caring enough to try and find a problem to this issue. I am sorry for what you are going through, but I feel your pain.

  • Looking up your drugs on www.drugs.com there is the following info: Interactions between your selected drugshttp://www.drugs.com/images/s3.jpg fluoxetine and amphetamine (Major Drug-Drug)GENERALLY AVOID: Several case reports suggest that patients treated with serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SRIs) may exhibit an increased sensitivity to sympathomimetic agents. The mechanism of interaction is unclear. The reaction has been reported when fluoxetine was used concomitantly with phentermine, amphetamine, or phenylpropanolamine. Additionally, some sympathomimetic agents (e.g., amphetamines) may possess serotonergic activity and should generally not be administered with SRIs because of the additive risk of serotonin syndrome, which is a rare but serious and potentially fatal condition thought to result from hyperstimulation of brainstem 5-HT1A receptors. The interaction occurred in a patient treated with dexamphetamine approximately 2 weeks after the addition of venlafaxine. The medications were discontinued and the patient was given cyproheptadine for suspected serotonin syndrome, whereupon symptoms promptly resolved. A second episode occurred when dexamphetamine was subsequently resumed and citalopram added. The patient improved following cessation of citalopram on his own, and residual symptoms were successfully treated with cyproheptadine.MANAGEMENT: In general, amphetamines should not be combined with serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Close monitoring for enhanced sympathomimetic effects is recommended if these agents must be used together. Patients should also be monitored for signs and symptoms of excessive serotonergic activity such as CNS irritability, altered consciousness, confusion, myoclonus, ataxia, abdominal cramping, hyperpyrexia, shivering, pupillary dilation, diaphoresis, hypertension, and tachycardia. Now, it doesn't sound like you are having any of the above severe symptoms, but if you are taking any other OTC meds there may be additional interactions. You also may be experiencing side effects from adderall or prozac - muscle weakness and nausea are two that come to mind. Why are you taking adderall? How long have you been taking these two drugs? This is a major drug/drug interaction listed above and I'd be very concerned about this. Please know that docs and pharmacists just don't check for drug side effects and interactions. You must be an informed consumer and learn about the drugs you are prescribed. Last questions I have are :do you drink alcohol or caffeine? How are your stools? Do you have dizziness lightheadedness? Best wishesDOM

  • Oh how WONDERFUL, to hear that I'm not alone. I KNOW I'm not crazy....and am NOT a hypochondriac. On the contrary, it takes something really getting to be a problem before I ever address it to an MD. I DO KNOW, that my blood pressure stays very low, and my WBC was 3.2 the last time that my blood was taken(in January). It actually gives me some relief...if you've been going through this for 2 yrs., because I feel as if I'm wasting away rapidly. PLEASE....KEEP IN TOUCH W/ ME!!! Hopefully, between the 2 of us, we can figure out what this horribly painful & dibilitating illness is that's taking our lives from us. Can I ask how old you are? AND...are there other symptoms that you have, that you'd like to know if I share. I have other symptoms too, but just don't know if they're related or not. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!:)

  • I take Adderrall for Narcolepsy. I don't drink any alcohol, and very little caffeine. As far as stools, I do have a symptom not previously listed- Though I still have the inconveniences of IBS, I have also recently been experiencing periods where I will have BRIGHT ORANGE oil floating in the water(gag!) w/ stools OR sometimes alone. ?????

  • No you are not alone!! I hope that we can figure this out! I am a 24 yr old white female, 5'9" tall and around 150 lbs. We seem to bwe very similar. The doctors have tested me for, what seems like everything from Lupus to RA to fibromyalgia to an enlarged spleen. I am currently getting ready to have a CT scan done. I have had an MRI, ultrasounds, X-rays, radiation breathign test and I know alot I have forgotten. I have discovered that you cant give up, even if the doctors give up on you!! I have had two or three doctors give up and send me away. One even told me that he didn't care who i seen as long as it wasn't him. Let me ask you something, Have you had a lot strep throat in the past?

  • Oh ok. I also wait till it is almost to late to go to the doc. I have to be really bad to go. I also have other diagnosis (three of which occured during the past two years when they were trying to figure out what is really bothering me)Scoliosis ( 32 degree curvature)AsthmaHypothyroidismMitral Valve Prolapse The medication that I am currently on is CymbaltaPlaqueniel (RA symptoms)CelebrexMulti vitaminZyrtec D Some of my symptoms are: swelling all over body (joints and everyelse)redness where swellingitchy skinvery dry skinloss of appetitelumps under skin that come up at pressure points but go away after 24 hrlumps that also occur in head (muscles spasms doc said)muscle crampslegs feel like they have to move all the time but it hurts when i doeyes are dry and feel like they is something is in themsevere pain in joints and muscles*neck*shoulders*elbows*wrists*hands*hips*knees*ankles*feetheadaches (sharp all of the sudden kind)stiffness but not in the morning, only if i sit for long periods of timedifficulty rising out of chairs and going up stairs I am to the point of applying for a handicapped tag and purchasing a folding cane. I am like you, I am only 24 YEARS OLD, I shouldn't be this way.!!! I am so frustrated that it seems like noone wants to figure anything out, or that they don't even seemed concerned. I know that there are people out there that are in worse shape than me but i at least have a right to know what is wrong!!! Well I dont know if any of this means anything or is even related but i find it odd they found 3 diagnosis that dont even fit what is wrong with me.

    8 Surprising Facts About Cholesterol

Did you know that one in six US adults has high cholesterol?

  • I totally understand. I have had this "discomfort" for a couple of years that is usually just nagging, in my upper right abdominal quadrant, just under my ribs. A few times in the past 9 mos., all of the sudden it's excruciating, nearly equivalent to the pain of child birth- last for as short as a few seconds, to as long as 6 hours. I was diagnosed w/ "general galbladder pain", because they didn't see anything on the ultrasound, and since, ya know, it's in the general area of my gal bladder....Diagnosis- "gal bladder pain". Thanks guys....that really helps. ALSO, if they run a couple of tests, and all looks okay at first glance, I just am depressed. I HATE THAT!!! It totally invalidates the discomfort and sickness I'm feeling by telling me it's "all in my head". I KNOW when something is not right, and SOMETHING is REEEAAALLLY WRONG! I have avoided Drs., because it just feels like a waste of time, money & dignity. I know that I'll eventually have to go, but would like to maybe have an idea of something for them to look for, since they can't seem to figure that out on their own.

  • I have also had a severe pain in my abdomen but it is on my left side, right up under my ribs and right beside my left hip bone. That's when they discovered that i have a cyst on my right ovary. That doesn't explain the pain on my left side. It has been a constant pain in the past that hurts worse when i breathe or bend over. Lately it has been coming and going though. I have been going to the doctor but it seems to be pointless. I have had all kinds of bloodwork run and x rays done but no one can tell what is wrong. I would definately go to the doctor as soon as possible b/c it will probably take them a while to even start to figure out where to start. I have been doing alot of research on the internet and i have had strep throat (which is why i asked you) like 6 times in the past three years and i think that it may have gone into rheumatic fever and noone caught it b/c i didn't have a primary doc at the times that i had it. I had tried several websites and some of my favorites are webmd.com, heathline.com, and this one has good info if you have been diagnosed with something that you don't think it is.

  • OKAY....You Ready for ALL of them? ;) STARTING SOMETIME IN MY TEEN YEARS: **Extreme exhaustion that causes me NOW to sleep for 22 hours per day when not taking 80mg of amphetamines- STILL sometimes will sleep for 19-20 hours WITH the amphetamines :( **Exhaustion feels as if every ounce of energy has been drained from me, and the only thing I can think about is where I migh inconspicuously curl up & sleep w/out being noticed**Have periods of sleep paralysis- where I wake up, but can not move at all**Sometimes, in conjunction w. sleep paralysis, I have hypnogaugic hallucinations- where I see things(usually an intruder moving about my room, watching me, or going through my things)- VERY SCARY**P.S. MY BROTHER HAS ALL OF THESE SAME SYMPTOMS ABOVE TOO--HE'S 21 YEARS OLD **Late teens- 1999-2000ish- pain in lower right side that is worse when I have a period- nothing shows on CT, so diagnosed w/ ovarian cysts STARTING IN 2002(ish):**Discomfort in my upper right abdominal quadrant, up under my rib cage**During pregnancy, wear a heart monitor that shows that my resting heart rate is very high**Reaction to epidural causes my blood pressure to bottom out, and I lost conciousness 3 times FOREVER:-lol! **Get shaky and very weak if I don't have something to eat w/ protein**Insatiable carbohydrate cravings**I have had to have my esophogus dialated twice, due to Schotzky's Rings- and need to have it done again- food will not go down all the way & I have to be VERY careful when I swallow- it's like a gamble, and I say a prayer and concentrate REALLY HARD- or it goes down my trachea, sometimes needing the hymelich meneuver**Pain in my shoulders, back(mid- on sides) & neck w/ intermittent spasms MY BROTHER ALSO HAS THIS LAST 2 PROBLEMS TOO AUGUST 2005**Pain in my shoulders, back & neck starts to get progressively worse- The spasms are constant- I go to the ER several times- I go to referred Dr.- I go to weeks of Physical Therapy- It's so bad, that I have periods where I feel like I'll lose my sanity- In Dec.-Jan. I have a series of steroid injections- Get relief in February 2006**Spasms start intermittently coming back- but very rarely are severe- September 2006-current**Diagnosed w/ Narcolepsy after a 24 hour sleep study- avg. fall asleep time during naps every 2 hours was around 1 1/2 min.- w/ some in the 30-45 second rangeMAY 2006:**Putting on make-up one day & VERY SUDDENLY excruciating pain in that same place in upper right side- can't alleviate it by sitting, laying, NOTHING- Go to ER- Receive 5 doses of Demerol, which don't even seem to phase the pain...this is BAD pain- after 6 hours, of course JUST BEFORE they take me back for a CT, it stops just as suddenly as it started- nothing found in scan**Have these episodes occasionally, sometimes last just a few seconds, sometimes a few hoursAUGUST-SEPTEMBER 2006:**Amphetamines stop working as well as they used to and wrists & finger joints start hurting, not every day, but always equally on both sides- followed by elbows, shoulders & then hips**General feeling of unwellness sets in & start the process of losing strength & muscle tone which, especially in upper arms, had been toned & visible- now, non-exhistant**Muscles ache all over my body**Start having headaches nearly every day- usually starting in the afternoon & almost constant nausea- losing appetite**Start to get what at first appears to be acne, but have the knots, sometimes the size of marbles or even larger(no kidding) that hurt & are filled w/ only sebum or clear oily fluid- if I try to drain it, it runs, like a stream, and then gets even bigger, then infected**Start feeling fevered or hot to the touch on torso & thighs in the eveningsNOVEMBER-DECEMBER 2006:**The day my toe joints start hurting, my daughter notice that they are dark purple- nearly black- and they get these itchy bumps or bumpy rash- itches terribly at night, but relieved by cortizone cream- they come & go very suddenly & leave scars behind**Vision suddenly gets blurry & problems w/ depth perception**Problems w/ balance**Sensativity to sound & light**Drenching night sweats**Loss of feeling in toes/feet- and then later, legs, after sitting- can't tell that they're numb, until I go to stand, and fall straight to the floor- also sometimes happens to an arm, when lying down- feeling will gradually come back, but there is no "pins & needles" sensation, as if it were "asleep"**Whites of eyes look "dull" or maybe "thinner" JANUARY 2007:**Start having 2-3 days at a time, where I have bright orange oil in stools, that floats on the water, or sometimes alone(w/out stool)- this is probably my least favorite symptom-lol! **Start having these 3-5 day periods where I'll wake up one day & my joints all hurt, my muscles all ache, my head feels like it will crack open & I'm extremely nauseous- Very sensative to light & sound(even in periods where headache subsides) **White Blood Cell Count- 3.2**Blood Pressure- 90/50 (which is about where it stays)In the past month:**Dark red or blood looking spots - like pin head dots - on legs and ankles that get more sparse as they get higher- these do not go away if you press them or rub the area where they are- I think they are called "petchiae" (?)I may be leaving some out(believe it or not)- but this gives you a pretty good picture of how my health picture has unfolded & declined over the past several years.I don't think that it's possible that I'd have lyme disease. I'm from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, which is about as far as you can be from areas where you are most likely to suffer- I've only seen 1 tick in my life.

  • BLESS YOUR HEART!! Sorry i have been busy latley. i feel your pain though. i have had a rough couple of days. I am going for a ct scan on wednesday and maybe ( fingers crossed) they will find somthing. I know that sounds wierd but i kinda hope that somthing is there, even if it is a tumor or growth of some kind at least they can remove it to make some of the pain go away. I know that is kinda sick, isn't it? how have you learned to cope and get through the days with everything that you are going through?

  • I TOTALLY understand what you mean! Feeling like, "Please! Find SOMETHING! no matter what it is, so you can fix it, & I can say 'I told ya so'"-lol! It probably would consume me more if I weren't also dealing w/ the challenge of my 3 little girls(4, 8 & 10) having been taken by my ex-husband & hidden from me(one of which is not his)- I haven't seen them in 2 mos. & the courts & police say that their is absolutely nothing that they can do, until I get to court w/ him on 6/19- even though I have custody of them, & know that there are times when they are being kept where they've been abused & the oldest 2, molested, in the past. I can't believe that their response is just, "Sorry....There's nothing legally that can be done." That consumes what energy I have, so, I think that my managing life is sheerly by default- of determination to get them back in a safe place.

  • Ya know....I just can't get anyone to FIND OUT these things. I KNOW.....without a doubt in my mind...that I am dying, and can feel myself very rapidly deteriorating. I have always been the type to suck it up, & keep most personal discomforts or ailments to myself, letting them silently run their coarse. The Dr. that I saw in January, SEEMED very concerned- discouraged by my low blood pressure and weak pulse in my ankles- saying that after he got the results of my blood test, I'd probably end up w/ a referral to a neurologist. After 7 days, I called, to find that he'd gone on vacation after my appt. I waited another week- and called again, and found out from the nurse that my WBC was 3.2 & was cause for concern. She'd have the Dr. call me & see what I needed to do next. Not only did he not call, but 3 weeks later, I tried leaving messages, & he continued to not return my calls. At the ER, when I got really sick & weak, they just said that I had signs of a bladder infection, my WBC was up to 5.0(I'm guessing due to the infection???), perscribed an anti-biotic, and said that I needed to see a Rheumatologist, and referred me to one. The Rheumatologist said that I must get a referral from the Dr. that still wouldn't return my calls. I feel like I'm at a loss. Last year I was running multi-million $ units for a nationwide corporation- this year, I have a(finally growing) online store, have lost my home, my car & my girls- not much left but "faith" itself to keep going. I just don't know what to do, and am mortified at the thought of being humiliated by another Dr. that just writes me off. I know I'm not important to them....but I am important to my girls. :( I DID ASK THE DR. IN THE ER ABOUT HIV & CANCER- HE SAID THAT IT WAS PROBABLY AN AUTO-IMMUNE DISEASE, OR MY WBC WOULDN'T HAVE INCREASED TO 5.0. WHEN I WAS 16, I WAS "DIAGNOSED" W/ MONO, BUT...ONLY AFTER MY TEST CAME BACK NEGATIVE. THE DR. SAID THAT THE SYMPTOMS THAT HAD BEEN ONGOING FOR NEARLY 2 MOS. JUST HAD TO BE MONO...NO MATTER WHAT THE TEST SAID. (?????)
