  • This is definitely your thyroid. It also sounds like you might have goiter, which is an inflamation of the thyroid gland. I have always taken great care of my health and have been careful with my diet also. Unfortunately, from out of the blue, I was diagnosed with goiter and hypothyrodism 15 years ago. I tried to treat it naturally, but the naturopaths/homeopaths that I visited told me there is no natural cure. They strongly advised that I take synthroid, one tiny pill a day, to provide the thyroxin (a very important hormone) that my body needs. You will be surprised to know that this "disorder" is very common in North America, but as usual, doctors don't know why. If you don't treat your illness, it may cause big problems for the rest of your body, since you are not getting the supply of thyroxin that your body needs to function properly. As long as you don't have a natural solution, treat your illness with conventional medicine until you find an alternate treatment. Otherwise, your condition and symptoms will get worse. I have been taking synthroid for 15 years and I feel fine. My only nagging symptom is fatigue, but all the other stuff is gone. Don't be stubborn, be smart!

  • It is sad to hear your suffering. Your symptoms sounds familiar with many other friends of mine. There are several Japanese herbal formulas that our family doctors prescribe for us here in Japan. They really help. You can have the names for your references if you are interested. Wish you get well soon.:)

Perhaps vitamin B complex defficiency. Fluid retention is a symptoms of vitamin B complex deficiency. You need to eat high quality NO lean protein- Lean protein causes Rabbit Starvation.I recommend you reading about Paleolitic Diet theory at Mercola.comStick around, read all the threads around here- very useful.

Sounds like it could be your thyroid----you should NOT self treat--- you need to go to a physician and get thyroid tests done. If you start taking alternative treatments--- you may screw up your blood work. It is a simple blood draw. 20 seconds for a blood draw to figure what is going on-- or every day feeling like crap----your decision. Plus you run the risk of injuring your body--- hypothyroidism is nothing to play around with--- if that is what is going on with you--- it may be something else--- and that is why you need to get in contact with an internist--- and get proper testing---- at least it will rule some disorders out. He/she will check for other problems too--- iron deficiency, hormonal imbalance, etc.

  • Well, we all try to be helpful. I agree with Sally that you may need to take blood tests for hypothyroidism. But I do not think your doctor will buy our hypothyroic hypoyhesis. You will be on your way to a clinical testing jet coaster (used to be my job) with all kind of specialists trying to categorize, interpret the possible disorders you might be having. It is not an easy thing even for clinical endocrinologists. To save all our time, please review excellent information collected by Mary Shomon on her websites:http://thyroid.about.com/cs/basics_starthere/a/symptoms.htm Modern medicine tends to look for disease than looking at the patients. Shall I say to look for a tree without seeing the forest. Sally may not agree that doctors love diseases more than treating patients because they remember their patients by their sickness most of the time.
