I have had this goiter on the side of my thyroid for a couple of years now.And I'm going soon to have my 2nd thyroid scan. But wouldnt my blood work for my thyroid show if there was a problem ? That comes back normal everytime its checked.
I have the symptoms of thyroid disease ,tired all the time, hair falling out and dry and brittle etc. but theres nothing. Does anyone else have this or know why the goiter is even there ?
Thank you

That comes back normal everytime its checked. I have the symptoms of thyroid disease ,tired all the time, hair falling out and dry and brittle etc. but theres nothing. Does anyone else have this or know why the goiter is even there ? Thank youI recently developed a lump in my neck. I kept goning to the Doctors to find out why I was gaining so much weight. Every year for my yearly check up my OB would do blood work but nothing showed up. I recently started a diet over the past 7 months and lost 60 lbs. and thats when I not iced the bump on my neck. When I went for my yearly check up I showed the doctor the lump and he ordered a another thyroid blood work up. Mean while he sent me to the hospital to have an ultesound done. The blood work came back this time showing an under active thyroid level. He said the radiologist said the scan showed that I have a goiter on my right thryoid. He perscribed Synthroid 50mcg. for me to start taking but wants me to see an Endocronologist for a second opinion and I have to have anothe blood work up (TSH) in 6 weeks. He said the goiter forms because the thyroid stops working. Some people have to have them removed. I haven't seen the other Dr. yet. All this happened within the last week. I have all the symptoms, but it took my OB to do something about it. He said if you have an under-active thyroid it will make you gain weight, but my family doctor never could get the right diagnosis. I hope some of the information helps.Good Luck.
