Can somebody help me with this issue. I recently had oral and vaginal sex with my wife whllst I had an active cold-sore. 2 weeks previously I had visited a prositiute. 2 weeks after having sex with my wife she was diagnosed as having genital herpes. I went and got myself checked out but they could not test for genital herpes. My wife had tests done at the time which according to the doctor proved negative. Could I have infected her myself via an active cold sore? I've always had cold sores and been with my wife for 20 odd years. I show none of the classic signs of genital herpes and would like to get some further assistance for additional tests. Also what precautions should I now take to reduce/eliminate transmission of the disease

  • Cold sores are usually due to herpes viruse type 1 and genital herpesfrom type 2. But these can cross over, so likely you gave her your type 1.

  • You infected your wife with your herpes 1 or you caught herpes 2 from the *********e and gave that to your wife. You should have known better than to have oral sex with her with a herpes sore in your mouth. You can have herpes 2 on your penis and not have any symptoms at all and spread it. You one specific blood test for herpes 2. I don't know how valid they are in your country, however. The lab work must be done correctly or the results may come back a false negative. You better quit before you give your sweet wife HIV. Did you ever think of that? Now you need to be tested for that in a month, too.
