this is my story, had surgery for SMA Jan 23, 2009. After 1-2 weeks develop infection on wound had wound vac connected,on stomach, after another week they realized it was a bile leak or leak adjusted wound vac to lower level, had a pic line installed, went NPO, 1-2 weeks later massive infection in pic line, pnuemonia, septic and in ICU now in long term care facility. Wound closed but reopens and leaks, wound vac on and off, they are calling it a fistula, now allowed to eat, physical therapy. High fevers continue and last night seapage started again with 102.5 of fever. Wound does not close totally but has reduced in size, surgery not option as they consider me mal-nourish and not a candidate due to other health problems.
Reaching the end of line and patience, I get really upset with leaks, they stain everything, have 4 bacterias on 2-3 antibiotics, still receive TPN, protonix and other fluids.
Where do I go from here?
