Fingernails and Heart problems

In the past I have always had good healthy fingernails, and in 2001 I had open heart surgery. Since that time My nails have began to have raised ridges and have become harder, I know that the is a correlation between nails and heart, Dr has no insight on this matter. Where can I obtain information on this subject. Thanks
