Excesive sleep in elderly

My mother is 81 years old and in pretty good health, but she sleeps 23.99% of the day and night. The only thing she suffers from is high blood pressure (which is under control) and recurrent urine infections. Other than that she is fine, her heart is strong, there is no sign of previous strokes, her digestion is very good. Could there be a connection between her kidneys and her excesive sleep disorder??
