I don't feel bad, just really warm on that side , on my ear. I wounder if it is blood pressure, why only on one side..... just wondering

  • Both my ears get red and annoyingly warm and it usually only happens in the early evening, but not every evening. Weird I know and I don't have any answers either. My ENT says I may be developing a food allergy and to keep a diary of what I eat or drink.

  • I have the same problem, my right ear gets really red and hot sometimes. I have no idea what causes it and it'd be great to know.

  • Maybe it's a mild shingles case...could be food senstivity. Look at the ear points on an acupuncture chart and see what organ the heat is related to.

  • My left ear does this all the time, usually once a day in the late afternoon. I did a search, and its supposedly a little-known disorder called ERYTHROMELALGIA. Try www.erythromelalgia.org, see if that gives you any info your looking for.

  • Both of my ears do this as well. Sometimes, it can be very painful! I usually have to keep dabbing cold water on them and turn a fan on them to cool them down. I think it might have something to do with hormone levels. I noticed that it occurs many times when I'm upset or when I have sex or even during any physical activity. I've asked my doctor and they said either hormones or blood pressure issues. However, I'm now on blood pressure meds and it still occurs. I hate it! At its worst, it feels like a sunburn from the inside out and often times if I don't get it cooled down right away it starts to travel across my cheek.

  • This is not a blood pressure issue or a brain issue. This is your ear trying to protect itself from trauma. You may not notice, but this will only start after rubbing or scratching the ear or ear lobes. Don't believe me? Grab your earlopes right now, between your thumb and pointer finger, and rub it back and forth like you are using your thumb to scrub laundry on your pointer finger and watch it start. To make it stop, do not touch your ears and it will go away on it's own.
