I have had a problem for a year or so that after everytime I eat, I have diarrhea. It usually comes within 30 to 45 minutes after I eat. It just hits me with a gut ache and then bam, I have to get to a bathroom quick. If im stuck in a car it just gives me really bad gas. I usually go about two to three times and then i'm fine. At first I thought that maybe I was lactose intolerant, but I am not sure. I haven't seen a doctor yet but am seriously considering it. What could it be and why? Please help!!

Please help!!I wish I could help, but I'm in the same boat!! For me it usually happens about 10 or 15 minutes after eating, and after I go once I"m (usually) OK. Are there any specific foods that make this happen to you?

  • Dear All, 1) It is not necessarily that you are allergic to lactose. I am not allergic to lactose (milk sugar) but I cannot eat any dairy because I am actually allergic to certain proteins that can be found in milk. There are quite some people who think it may be lactose when they have an issue, but it might be a protein allergy. As those proteins can also be found in other food, such as beef, it is not only dairy that may make you have diarrhea. You should get checked for food allergies. You may have a problem with gluten (another protein) that can be found in bread, pasta etc. Or a combination of multiple allergies. 2) Also, it may be IBS (or both). Irritable bowel syndrome. You need to see a gastroenterologist! It is very uncomfortable and disruptive to your life to have diarrhea all the time. Go see a GI doctor ASAP. Yours truly, Szabina
