I cannot believe I am posting on a message board, but I am hoping maybe someone will also be dealing with this. Three months ago I got sick -- and had a bit of ear -- discomfort. I was given drops and Zpack -- which did nothing, but I eventually got better. My ear, however, did not -- for three months I have had constant pain, a feeling that my ear would explode - I know that sounds silly -- itching, and it never, ever stops. I am a court reporter, so hearing accurately is, obviously, crucial. As a child I did have many ear infections, tubes in my ears, etc. The only symptom in recent years is on the phone I would notice my ear seemed to be less effective than my right -- and going under water -- very painful --
Overall though, I have great hearing --
I finally saw an ENT yesterday. My ear, in his words, "Looks like swiss cheese." I have three large holes on my eardrum. He was so stunned he had his secretary look at it. :( I have referrals to a surgeon now, but I am a bit despondent since I really thought something would be done to help me -- I literally walked out of there just as I was walking in. After three months of this, I cannot believe it is not over -- far from it. I pray my insurance will cover this - what a mess our country is in health-care wise -- anyhow, maybe my experience will help someone else who is dealing with this.
Thank you for reading.
