Had a cough for about 7/8 weeks now. I dont seem to cough during the day but I noticed I cough when I drink something quickly, while playing football (soccer), after eating, lying down at night. fortunately I dont cough through out the night. I dont smoke and i am 22. Had bloods tests and I had high ESR? and MCV. Havent got a clue what that means but was told high esr could be from a virus?and high mcv from heavy drinking on the weekends which i am not going to lie happens. i have seen the doctor twice about this and had a course of antibiotics which didnt do much and then had a chest x-ray which the doctor said there were no visible problems. If it continues for another week the doctor said she will refer me to a chest specialist.
I sometimes cough so much that I cant breathe and make a horrible noise trying to suck air in when my throat feels like its shut! but now I am trying to stop myself from coughing and breathing deeply through my nose when I feel a cough coming along which is helping a bit. I have taken covonia cough syrup which just made me spit up clear phlegm and tried beconase? spray to stop what i think is post nasal drip. it has stopped the phlegm.
Any ideas as to how to get rid of it will be helpful?
