I am a 46 year old and I nor my immediate family have ovarian cancer history. I had my annual women's exam w/ a new OB, my last one retired, and of course my file of history is missing. I informed my new doctor that I have been experiencing bowel problems for several days (I would feel like I needed to have a bowel movement but when using the restroom I would only produce gas with a light brown mucus/discharge). He recommends a colinoscopy.
He then performed my check-up. He found that my right ovary is enlarged or that it has a mass on it (I heard enlarged but I see on the work-up order it states there is a large ednexal mass) and that my uterus has shifted. He wants a Transvaginal Ultrasound performed and they are not cheap.
After doing some research I wonder if either of these procedures are needed?
I have never had an abnormal pap smear and am otherwise very healthy.
Looking for some advice...
