I just got out of the hospital today ... never been there before. I'm 41, female, extremely healthy. Last Sunday night I came down with a very high temperature. Within an hour I had extreme diarrhea for the remainder of the night. The next day, the same thing. I kept thinking it was a stomach bug, so I waited until the following morning to go to the doctor. She put me into the hospital immediately. I got a CT scan, a colonoscopy and got the diagonosis of colitis, pseudomembranous. The problem I have is that I don't meet any of the criteria for folks who normally get this. I haven't had any antibiotics in I don't know how long ago, I'm not on hormones or birth control, etc. I did, however, get a colonoscopy 5 months ago (a screening, because my mother had colon cancer). They found a polyp and removed it. Could this have had anything to do with my current condition?
