chronic vaginal walls swelling

I am 24 years old and in May 2007 my Gyn discovered that I have quite a big cervix erosion, she said it's not a dangerous condition, but due to lots of vaginal discharge she said she can make me a cauterization of cervix and discharge won't disturb anymore. In about a month after cauterization I started to feel vaginal walls swelling with dull pain that was constant and never went away. Besides I stated to have brown blood spotting 1 week before my period. Periods became very painful and irregular. Before my cycle was all the time 29 days. From june it started to vary like 35 days, than 25 days, 31 day and finally 37 days, which is completely strange for me.

I went to gyn again, she performed urine culture, results - everything negative. Then she said I might have a vaginal bacteria, that has nothing to do with urine. So I made tests for chlamydia, ureaplazma, and micoplazma, also made a bacterial culture test. Everything was negative except that they found I have Staphylococcus Epidermidis. I was prescribed different antibiotics for vagina and oral. After that treatment the symptom of dull pain went away however swelling feeling in vagina is still present. It is very disturbing.

So I went to Gyn again and she said to perform bacterial culture test one more time in case Staphylococcus didn't go away. Result was that they found only Streptococcus Alpha Hermolyticus. Doctor said it's nothing and only prescribed me Clotrimazole cream to make Streptococcus go away. I used the cream and the result is still the same - I still have vaginal walls swelling.

I forgot to mention that I had a Ultrasound performed during those visits to gyn several times. Everything was normal.

Gyn said it might be the case that there is something wrong with my rectum that could give me that pressure in vaginal walls, so I went to see chirurgeon 2 days ago who said my rectum is completely fine. Also she prescribed Yasminelle hormones to regulate my cycle in case I have a hormonal imbalance.

I am on Yasminelle 1 month already and I really hoped that it would remove my swelling in vaginal walls that is so disturbing, however it didn't. I am completely lost and I just don't understand what is the cause of that constant swelling. I don't think that hormonal imbalance can be the cause of swelling. Is it possible that cauterization that was made 8 months ago would cause it? Please help me I just don't know what to do anymore...

  • Poor girl. I think you need a uterine biopsy. It's not fun, but it's quick. Did you have a pap? Take a pain pill before it's performed....I would think if you have a staph infection and the doctor says, "it's nothing"...she's wrong...it could be creating all types of problems...have you had blood work to check all of your hormones...I think you need that...but it sure does sound like you have a raging infection causing all of this. Make her do lab work to match the staph with the antibiotic..you may need to be on a persistent course of antibiotics for a month or so to get rid of it. Once on antibiotics, I would also begin a series of acupunture treatments to coincide with the new antibiotics...you may also need to see a homeopath if you cannot enlisit any help from your doctor. The homeopath can take a sample of the infection and make an antidote from it. $$$$ Did the protologist do a colonoscopy on you? You definitely need that, too, if your doctor feels that could be a part of the problem..you might have a few problems going on and each one is making the other one worse. Good luck..maybe it's a latex allergy thing???

  • Hi there, Another thing you may consider is that you could possibly be allergic to the other components of all those creams, which in turn cause chronic inflamation/irritation. Another thing that can cause vaginal swelling/pain is interstitial cystits or vulvadynia. Maybe check out info on those.Hope this helps!Debbie

  • hey, thanks a lot for an answer. Yes, I made a pap test, the result was good, no cell changes. In fact I wanted to say that it's about a week when I am feeling perfectly fine, swelling feeling went away and I just feel as normal as used to feel before. No idea what did cause this swelling previously. It might have been latex allergy, might something else, or maybe it was hormonal imbalance that now started to regulate itself with yasminelle, but I am so glad it's gone. Hope it doesn't come back. Thanks a lot!
