Hi
I wrote here before about having severe chest pains, and pallpitations in my chest. I travelled the city the other day searching for a doctor that might be interested in helping me, but again, doctors here don't wanna do anything more than prescribe tylenol. Anyways, I have had all the tests done, ECG, Blood, Cholesterol, XRays, S&D, Esophogus, but yet they show I am fine. Ive done reasearch on my own and figure I have SEVERE panic attacks, but mine dont come on and off, they are there 24 hours a day. I cant work because of this, and a doctor wont write me a note to get income support because he sees nothing is wrong with me, so I am having a hard time paying bills and stuff because of this so I need to find a cure quickly, so I can go back to work. Im asking if anyone suffers from SEVERE anxiety or panic attacks, can you tell me your story and your symptoms, cause I think Im having heart attacks and its freaking me out, Also maybe which medicines are working (celexa 40mg does not help me at all) thanks very much.

I had gastritis/GERD that produced chronic pains in my upper chest.

  • You might try hypnosis, you could even get some tapes on ebay, probably..but in person if you can afford it. Try to find a support group or some type of group therapy in your community, otherwise you will be handicapped for life.

  • Be careful that doctors don't miss an actual disease. That's what happened with me. I've gone on for over two years with chest pains, heart palpitations, and shortness of breath. The last 8 months of those two years the chest pains became more definitive. They were sharp, piercing pains that would stop me in my tracks. I would have to lean forward to catch my breath and stop the pain. I was told by so many ED doctors that I had chest wall pain, was over exercising, was having an anxiety attack, having a panic attacks, high blood pressure, etc. I was given IV Ativan quite a few times in the ED and sent home. Some of the more crazy things I was told by ED doctors were: You don't have anything wrong with you; Take two aspirin and take a nap; Go home and take two Advil and forget about this; If you have these symptoms don't back here again. (Believe me I didn't.) I did have high blood pressure but it was a symptom of my final diagnoses. A certain type with widening pulse pressure is a symptom of certain diseases. Instead, I was told I had difficult-to-control-hypertension and placed on hypertension medication. After 8 months and 11 visits to the ER I have my diagnoses: pericarditis w/pericardial effusion, atrial fibrillation, and mild myocarditis. Atrial fibrillations are serious because they can cause clots to form which cause strokes. All my so called heart palpitations were arrhythmias. However, because they didn't last very long at the time, I never got diagnosed. If further testing had been performed I might have gotten diagnosed sooner. Basically EKG's, blood tests, and physical exams were done but not further more extensive testing such as an echocardiogram or MRI were done.

  • Hi There, Thank you for your response, I hope you get this cause I just have a couple questions. Where did you get checked for all this stuff, was it through a specialist or at the hospital. Cause hospitals dont do anything for me. Actually everytime I am hooked up to a machine in a hospital for about an hour I feel fine so they send me home. I have an appointment with a heart specialist in two weeks. I hope I can make it till then. What were your symptoms, what was happening to you. Were you extremely dizzy, cannot sleep because of pain, 24hour chest pain, palpitations etc. etc. Also I am very curious to know if you smoke or gamble or do anything that could put you in this state. Thanks and I hope you can help me out.
