Hi, I had a car accident Saturday night (Nov 11) and I was the passenger. No airbag, but I was wearing a seat belt. The hood of the car flew up and hit the windshield and my seat belt didn't tighten as it should have and I hit the windshield/hood with my head. There were no fractures on the radiology report, but now (sunday nov 12) I can't walk right (ataxia); I keep tripping over my feet and falling down. I got checked again at an urgent care facility and the dr said to wait a couple of days for the swelling in my spinal cord to go down and then if I still can't walk right go to a neurologist. But I am so worried. And not to mention in pain.

thanks,

anon.

  • if you have any numbness in your groin, buttocks, down your legs, if you experience any difficulty with urination or bowel movements, get to your ER urgently and ask them about Cauda Equina Syndrome. This is a serious condition, it can cause paralysis, and will affect your bowel and bladder function. Research it, there are red flag symptoms to watch out for..if you experience any of them, get straight to the ER for Neurosurgeon consult.I'm not saying you have this, but if you damaged the bundle of nerves called the Cauda Equina, you can have symptoms that progress rapidly. Emergent surgical intervention is needed, so please be aware... A lot of doctors don't really know of this syndrome, and if you don't get the pressure taken off these nerves, the effects can be devestating. I know!!I wish you all the best.

No only NOTHING was done to help me, but the physicians laughed at my condition! After going to emergencies multiple times for aggravated symptoms, having to change family doctors several times...after 2 years of suffering of the same symptoms, I am still suffering ***l... Now, my chiro and acupuncturist tell me that I also suffered a spinal cord injury in my brain! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? Most of these injuries are visible on the multiple X-Rays/CT Scan & MRI I had to go through, BUT, the radiologists/neurologist/ER physicians/Orthopedic specialist WON'T write the GRAVITY of these problems in their reports to my family doctor! Let me tell all of you who are suffering from motor vehicle injuries...You are only going to get through this distressing phase of your life (if you survive) IF you find a great family doctor! I AM A WALKING DEAD person! ***l is my life, for the last 2 years!
