I have a 29 year old daughter. About 7 years ago she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome ( POTs). Neither of these ailments seems to be contributing to her new symptoms.
About 3 months ago, she started with bouts of severe diarrhea, accompanied with stomach cramps and nausea. These symptoms have gotten progressively worse. She went in for a colonoscopy on May 6th . Her pain level on a scale of 1-10 was about a 6, after the procedure it was about a 9.5 they released her in that pain. I left that section of the hospital and took her to the Emergency Room. They gave her a shot for colon spasms which did not do anything. I took her home in excruciating pain; after a very long night I took her to urgent care and they preformed a CAT scan to look for perforations and found none or any evidence of the gas used to expand her colon the day before.
The doctors are stumped. She now takes a prescription nausea medication in addition to a host of other meds which have been changed and re-changed. she is losing weight because she can only stomach small amounts of food but the food is determined to levae her body one way or the other. She no longer has the desire to eat. She is chronically tired and sleeps a great part of the day.
She has a rheumatologist for her Fibromyalgia, a neurologist for the POTs, a Psychiatrist for the depression of being so young and so ill, a gastrointestinologist for her stomach problems, an urologist for reoccurring bladder infections and a PCP who attempts to coordinate all of her meds and test. She is so tired and just wants to give up. :(
Has anyone had or know someone with similar problems. They been trying to collectively to come up with why she is so very ill but no answers yet.
