I Inherited My Brothers Cat In Feb. And Have Since Hand Many Urinary Infections. Is It Possible That My Cat Is The Cause Of This Or Is It Just My Imagination???

  • it's your imagination...you could get respiratory infections from the litter box if the cat is a carrier of that type of disease...and then you could get another infection if the cat scratched you but not UTI...drink more water and take better care of yourself..also, your first infection may not have been erradicated totally with your first round of antibiotics, thus, you think you are picking up another UTI when it was the first one in the first place...have it type matched with antibiotics to make sure you totally get rid of it..

  • UTIs can come from STDs or bacteria entering from wiping incorrectly. I know someone that kept on getting them as they had an infection stone that had built up in the kidney.

  • http://www.cathealth.com/zoonoses.htm Info on various disease that can be spread from cat to human. If you are concerned get your cat a thorough check up. UTI's are caused by many things. Repeated doses of antibiotics are almost always going to cause repeated UTI's. Antibiotics disrupt the natural flora of your intestines and vagina. Please get a good quality PROBIOTIC and take this daily. You can find this at any good healthfood store. Repeated UTI's are often aggravated by diet - cut out all sugar, especially high fructose corn syrup. Consider acupuncture to help for chronic UTI's - it is very helpful! Best wishesDOM

  • This question is why I am searching on here. When I got pregnant, my doctor told me to get rid of my family cat as I was more susceptible to bladder infections with him in the home. I used to get bladder infections a lot, but they have never come back since. Obviously my doctor was right about something, but I want to know if anyone can confirm this?

  • Yep i agree, dissagree with the first person as well. I had sex with a girl on a couch in this house i was taking care of with tons of cats and hair all over the house. I couldn't even breath right there was so much hair bothering me. Then after that she got a urinary tract infection and i seemed to as well. Having to pee often but not alot coming out. Hers burned mine did not. Said its harder for the infection in men is why. Try a cheap herb called Uva Ursi. Its the #1 in europe.coconut oil too
