Hi my sister for the past couple of months has been suffering from impaired vision and chronic headaches. My family assumed that the headaches were directly linked to the impaired vision and as such we began to take her to various optomologists in order to figure the problem only to have each and everyone of them incapable of properly diagnosing the illness. Then just last sunday on the way home from work she began to tell me that she couldn't see for some odd reason and as such we took her to the Emergency Room near our home. She was passed off and then told that she needed to see another optomologist for a second opinion. After we took her there she then began to experience episodes paralysis in her legs in addition to vomiting. Though the paralysis was not consistent we still enrolled her at Memorial Herman in hopes that someone there would be able to give us an answer. After a series of CAT scans and MRIs we were told from the doctor that was available and NOT from the neurologist that she had an excess of calcium deposits in her brain and a certain portion of her brain was degenerating. The unusual thing was that the brain degeneration is typically found in the elderly and my sister is only 24. From what I can understand of many of these forums the symptoms that she has suffered are directly related to the calcification in the brain but I'm confused upon the understanding of the brain degeneration. Are they related to one another and if not then what will happen? Please help me understand, the doctors seem to beat around the bush with presenting a feasible answer without further testing.

  • I would get her to the best possible neurologist. Have they told you whether they see plaques indicative of Multiple Sclerosis, any signs of creutzfeldt- jakob, have they done blood cultures? Has she been to Mexico or anywhere else outside of the country? There is an answer. Don't stop until you find it.
