Over the past 6 years, I have been told that I have severe bronchiectasis and emphysema. I have had at least 5 CT Scans to confirm and diagnose these conditions. Well, this past year, I started having a lot of chest pain with inhalation and was coughing blood tinged sputum. My doctor, who I absolutely trust 110% sent me to a pulmonary specialist, who proceeded to order a CT/PET Scan to obviously rule out cancer. Well, wasn't I totally SHOCKED when he told me that the PET Scan was completely "Normal", AND the CT Scan was completely "Normal". Can someone please tell me how this can be??? I thought that bronchiectasis and emphysema was irreversible....Especially "Severe", such as I had. By the way, it has been about 9 months since my PET/CT Scan, and I continue to have worsening chest pain, and still do cough blood every once in a while. My doctors don't seem to be concerned though! Any suggestions???!!!!
