Hi

I wondered if any one could help me i am worried about my hubbie, he has a runny nose then a blocked nose and sneezies as well but he does not have a cold and the symptoms are not all day which i can not understand. We have been to the doctors and they gave him a nasal spray which does not work he is getting frustrated because when the runny nose and the blocked nose and sneezies occur it only last for about a hour then nothing for a couple of hours and sometimes nothing for a day or so..

Thanks for your help

  • Have you been to allergist? Also, some of those prescription nose sprays need to be used for a week or 2 before you see the benefits. I have nasal allergies year round (mold and dust mites) and finally going to an Allergist to get the proper testing and medication helped me the most.

  • I have the same problem...and this spring/summer is the worst allergy season for me in years...not sure why.I recommend he take Benadryl at night (probably best to start off with one tablet as it can make you really drowsy, depending) and to take regular Non-drowsy Claritin (without decongestant) during the day, when an attack hits. He may just need to medicate himself all day for awhile. My hunch is that his allergies are similiar to mine and are related to pollen levels and such in the air, that do vary by day. Thus, some days he might be fine, while other days needing to take medicine throughout the day. He could also try Sudafed, but I've found the other medicines work better for my allergies in general...Sudafed is great at restoring the ability to breathe, though. But can keep you awake all night long, if you experience this side effect. Also, as a side note, I've noticed that my nose congestion is actually getting worse from nose spray. So it might be a good idea to "google" the medicine he was prescribed to see if this is a side effect of sorts. It seems ridiculous I know, but the kind I use states that it is actually a side effect of prolonged usage.Hope this helps!
