I'm wondering if you've come across any other patients who have had surgery for bladder cancer ..a cystectomy..in which either a neobladder or Indiana Pouch (internal pouches) with a B l2 deficiency? I was told i had a 5 yr supply of Bl2 stored in my liver..that didn't turn out to be the case..i was depleted in about 9 months. I only had the serum Bl2 assay but that was 270 at the time...NOONE has heard of the uMMA test and i live in the city where it was invented!! Go figure. I have since talked with Norman Labs and am being sent the kit for testing. I'm very active on a web site dealing with only bladder cancer and not one of these people has been tested with one exception..a patient that went to Mayo's...that used the uMMA test. All the surgeons just pooh pooh it. The terminal ilium is used in the reconstruction of the new pouch therefore you are not able to absorb Bl2. I have looked for the sublingual Bl2 with Metylcobalamin and can't find them and i hesitate to buy from a non-ethical supplier. Any comments appreciated..........Pat

  • Hi Pat, I and 4 others hypersensitive to methylcobalamin have tested 10 brands. Only two brands ranked 5 stars, Jarrow 1mg & 5mg and Enzymatic Therapy 1mg. Seven other brands ranked 1 to 3 stars and one brand ZERO stars, completely inactive allowing rapid return of symtoms. One good online supplier is www.iherb.com. Their prices are competetive and their service to me has been excellent without exception. These brands are sublingual tablets that when allowed to linger under the tongue or in the cheek allow about 10-15% absorbtion. A 5000mcg sublingual can give you as much serum methylb12 as a 500-750mcg injection. And the sublingual is as fast or faster than an injection from my own experience. Taken daily it is superior to anything but a larger dose methylb12 injection. If you take 10x5mg and keep your mouth saturated for 1.5 hours you will most likely absorb as much as a 5-7.5mg methylb12 injection. At the 7.5mg end you are beginning to get into the "megadose" range that appears to upregulate neural healing. I would suggest that you get the methylb12 along with the Jarrow B-Right b-complex, zinc, C, E, A, D, magnesium, calcium and the other natural human body active b12, adenosylcobalamin, also called dibencozide (Country Life Dibencozide also 5 stars). If you don't use the other cofactors, you are likely to only have a tiny fraction of the possible healing. The reason that you didn't have a "five year" supply is that the 5 year number is based on a small intestine that reabsorbs the methylb12 excreted in the bile at 98-99% efficiency, no reabsorbtion and you loose the b12 very quickly as you did. Good luck.
