Would it be safe to assume that our HIV Doctor claiming to be an "Infectious Disease Specialist", would atleast know what PML and the JC-Virus is without us having to tell him or her? Any one else have it or ever heard of it?

Any one else have it or ever heard of it? Well, you would think they should know. Who knows how many diseases they deal with though. I was a medical coder for quite a few years, for all specialties and when coding for ID, I never coded those viruses. Nor have I heard of them. You can always see another dr; asking questions about his/her experience with these viruses.

  • Thanks for your reply to my post.....I can perhaps see why a Medical Coder may not have heard of PML or the JC Virus, but I think anyone who specializes in Infectious Diseases, especially HIV certainly should.I was shocked to learn that the JC Virus lies dormant in 85 to 90 % of our entire World's Population! www.daytimediva77.com contains information about it based on my own research and personal loss. Thanks again for your reply.

  • I don't know what to say, quite frankly. I found this thread because I have a b12 deficiency and stumbled across your thread. I found out what these viruses are and am so sorry that you were diagnosed with these viruses. It surprised me to find that one organization that follows this, stated that there were only 31 cases! Are you currently being treated with the anti-HIV that was found to fight it or the other treatment they have come up with (can't remember the initials; HAART?)? I will keep you in prayer. May God bless you and your family.

  • Actually it was my daughter that this happened to! Sad to say she died January 13, 2009. Her Infectious Disease Specialist had never heard of it until I told him what it was! Imagine that! By then it was too late for her.........Thanks for your reply and stay healthy and safe! TRHOrlando, Floridawww.daytimediva77.com
