In 1990 I was diagnosed with lyme disease after a year and a half of misdiagnoses. In 2007 I had the aorta coming out of my heart replaced due to an aneurysm. My aorta had disected (sp). I have been following up for the last three years with another aneurysm that is in my abdominal aorta. This is now at surgery stage because of mostly the disection. I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was any correlation between lyme disease and aortic aneurysms.

I too was diagnosed with Lyme, but before they were able to figure out what it was, I had a CT scan which did not show the aneurysm. Between the time I first became ill and my 2nd CT scan, the aneurysm on my ascending aorta appeared. I did research and found there are case studies of patients with Lyme having brain aneurysms as well as aneurysms of the carotid artery. While they don't definitively link the two, the articles are about the suspicion that the Lyme caused it. With you and I now as more proof, I personally have no doubt.
