It's been a terrible year for me. I have this pain so went to a specialist. He did tests but really was just covering his bases without resolving the pain issue. A little info about me; I am a man in my mid 40s. I'm over weight (240 pounds) which may have something to do with the issue.
Fact is, I've now had a MRI and a Colonoscopy. No serious findings other than inflamed internal hemorrhoids. The doctor (a proctologist) has not been helpful, other than to run these tests. He now gives me an attitude that I'm not feeling a serious pain and it's all in my head. He suggested I go to a pain clinic since there is nothing physically wrong with me according to him. He says my internal hemorrhoids will not cause pain. I'm curious what others thing about that? Can internal hemorrhoids cause pain when sitting? I have no or very little pain when standing but have a nagging pain when sitting (like when driving). This nagging pain is a serious pain to the point where sometime I can't drive more than 15 minutes without pulling over to walk. I have trouble sitting through meetings at work. It has become a serious issue for me. Not only for my personal life but for my career. The specialist that I've been going to now seems to think all is well even though I told him I'm in pain. He can't find anything wrong and does not believe the hemorrhoids are causing the pain however he says he will ruberband them in a series of steps only if I want but says that is not the cause of my pain, only the cause of my bleeding.
So now I'm very frustrated. I've had all these tests and my doctor found nothing. It's hard enough to go into a doctor complaining of rectal pain and now the doctor is making it seem like I must be a total moron to believe I'm having anal pain or maybe he just is implying I'm a wimp because I can't deal with a little pain.
The fact is, this pain has become prevalent in my day to day life now. It has only gotten worse. I am suppose to drive our motor home to Yellowstone next month and I am really dreading it. I fear it. It's one thing to sit on a couch and be able to get up and walk around but it's another thing to drive where I cannot get up every few minutes, It's seriously painful. I was in serious pain today driving just 20 miles. I have to drive 1900 miles in a few weeks.
Is there any remedy? What are your thoughts? I've tries all the over-the-counter stuff and it doesn't so **** for the pain. Please help!
