about 4 months ago i had oral sex with 3 hookers while abroad. me receiving. i had a condom on. but now four months later i had the flu for 2 days. have had a really dry cough for a week. i smoke a lot about 20 a day. and these red marks on the tip of my penis and the bottom of my foreskin. im really stressed out about this and think i have hiv looking at the symptoms online. i dunno if its because i checked it out but ive been feeling tiredness a lot more. a aint getin no sore heads or night sweats. what i have is these marks on my penis , i had the flu for 2 days and this horrible. i am getting the courage up to go for a test to put my mind at ease cause this has completely ruined me the last loada days.its all i think of. the worst part is ive had 1 partner my whole life and its when this ended i went on hols and done this. i feel sick about it. what are the chances i have picked this up and what are these symptoms telling me? any one with any advise or words of comfort i would greatly appreciate to hear them. like i said the flu the cough and those marks. and i think tiredness. im so scared. dont know what to do if it is. one stupid night has ruined me

  • I would get tested but I don't think hiv progresses that quickly but I may be wrong. People live a long time with hiv, the key is early treatment. Go get a test.

  • Ok... Hope this calms you down. HIV usually does give symptoms like the flu, but these flu like symptoms are much stronger then the ones you get with your everyday flu. This is because the flu-like symptoms are caused by liver involvement. The extreme fatigue and muscle pain alone would have you running to the doctors. I do think you should have yourself tested since you have been in contact with a group of people that are more likely to give you HIV then others. Best wishes Kiera

  • sorry for tat.make up ur mind to take a hiv test as fast as possible.early detection can help u,even can cure the disease, and can lead a normal life.tests r available:ELIZA(enzyme linked immuno sorbent assay)test is not very specific. next specific test is WESTERN BLOT TECHNIQUE,ANTIGEN-ANTIBODY ELECTROPHORESIS etc.many tests r available.many hospitals are also coming forward to take hiv test, and will keep ur name secretly.so no need of fear of exposing u to others. have confidence to face watever it is.hope for the good.you too can educate people about this.have confidence and face it.

  • You do not say the gender of the prostitutes. If the sexual encounters were female/male, you being the male and there was no blood exchanged then the chances of contracting HIV is very low.If the encounters were male/female with you as the female and no blood exchanged then the chances of contracting the disease is higher than the previous example but lower than ...(and the worst case scenario in terms of likelyhood of contracting the disease)if the prostitutes were male and you are also male.So as you know which one of these groups you fall into then you can adjust your worries accordingly before getting the test. But getting tested (as everyone says ) is the only way you are going to put your mind at rest.

  • As the others said HIV can stay dormant for many years it sounds like a STD, possibly hepatitis, you were abroad so it could be a number of things....please get tested for everything so you don't spread it to anyone else. And keep in mind diseases do stay dormant for years so if you do clear up whatever it is always half follow up tests for at least 10 years. Good luck

  • Hi. My only advice to you is have the courage to go for a HIV test. I made a stupid mistake a few years ago by having unprotected sex & I have been for 3 tests since just to put my mind at rest(all were negative thankfully) but the doctors & health advisors i met with at the clinic were all extremely supportive & offered good advice. The main thing is that they will not judge you in any way. Remember, its not the cards you've been dealt, but how you go about your next move. You will be able to move on with your life once you've found out what the problem is. Hope this helps.
