acute sinus infection

I have had a sinus infection since beginning of Dec. I first tried the z-pac. That didn't work, so they put me on augmentim. About halfway through that I called the doctor because I was coughing so bad I bruised a rib. She said my chest was clear and it was from post nasal drip. They then switched me to levaquan. I felt better for about a week, then it came back. They sent me for a ct scan and it showed 6 out of 8 sinuses are infected. They started me on a 20 day treatment of augmentim. I felt better about halfway through and then started getting worse again. The cough came back, sinus headaches, fatigue. Now I am on avulex. If this doesn't work, I am supposed to go to an ENT. Anyone have a similar experience? What finally worked? I am sick of being sick.

  • I had sinus problems that antibiotics did not seem to help. My sister told me about a product (found at Walmart) called Hydrasense and I finally got relief!!Hope this helps.

  • Doctors keep throwing antibiotics at sinus infections, but they are often caused by fungus, and if you take an antibiotic to treat this, it will make things worse... I've suffered from chronic sinusitus this past year. I highly recommend doing a full on candida cleanse to rid yourself of candida overload, which can cause chronic sinus infections. Please visit www.candidasupport.org and www.wholeapproach.com for more info. Threelac is one of the best products out there, but you want to toggle this with a different treatment like oregano oil, grapefuit seed, and/or undecyenic acid (derived from castor oil). Candida is very hard to get rid of, but I guarantee if you have it you will feel much better doing a cleanse...just keep at it for at least 2 months and be prepared for lots of cravings and mood swings while doing the cleanse... Also, I highly recommend you get a neti pot and learn to use it daily, just like brushing your teeth. It takes some practice at first, but this really keeps the nasal passages clear, so they can better do their job of filtering out airborne pathagens. Since you've been taking so many hardcore antibiotics, you need to also take a PROBIOTIC to help rebuild your intestinal flora. You can find good ones at any healthfood store or try www.vitacost.com Hope this helps, and please remember that antibiotics flush out the good with the bad, leaving you prone to a proliferation of candida. I won't touch an antibiotic anymore they have done too much damage to my body! DOM

  • The acute sinus infection is one of those ailments that is incredibly common, but that all sane people want to avoid as far as they possibly can. Incredibly uncomfortable and painful, it can last for weeks and disrupt every element of your daily life, depending on the symptoms you get and how severe they are.Progon B
