Hi There. My Son Is 3 And A Half Year Old After Illness In April Now He Feels Ok In Everything. Only When He Sleeps He Seems To Snore. I Took Him To His Doctor And She Said He Has Almost Kissing Tonsils(enlarged, swollen, Nearly Touching Each Other). We Have To Follow Him To Know If They Will Stay Like This Or Return To Normal Size. If They Dont Maybe They Should Be Removed. We Should See A Specialist. Please Can Someone Help Me And Tell Me If They Had Similar Problems. Is It Possible For Tonsils To Return To Normal Size And After How Many Months. How Much Do I Have To Wait. I Am Worried And I Dont Know What To Do. Please Can Anyone Answer Me With Similar Case.thanks For Replying

  • My granddaughter just went through this exact thing ,and her specialist,e.n.t. performed surgery almost right away, they also removed her adnoids and put plugs in her ears after finding she had hearing loss and fluid in her middle ear .Shes doing much much better now. I would definately take your son to an audiologist to be tested for hearing and seek out a dr. specializing in e.n.t. Good luck to you and God Bless

  • Hi There. First Of All I Thank You For Replying. I Would Really Appreciate If You Give Me More Details. My Son Is Not Suffering From Any Illness, No Fever At All, He Is Eating Very Well, He Is Growing. I Mean Nothing At All Till Now. Only Little Snoring At Night. Do I Have To Wait Maybe His Tonsils Return To Normal Size, Maybe They Dont Make Problems For Him(like Hearing Loss, Not Breathing Good....).or Do I Have To Worry From Now. Thanks Also For Replying.

I wouldnt worry about it,but I do believe taking him to an E.N.T. specialist would behoove him. I never heard of the tonsils going back to normal size, but the e.n.t. checked out her tonsils very 1st thing to see if they where enlarged, unlike my other granddaughter they werent but the one with the enlarged tonsils had to be removed. you could type in enlarged tonsils in your search engine and see what comes up about it for peace of mind, but its not a great emergency. So relax. And I wish you and your son all the best of luck.Feel free to ask anymore questions if needed.

  • HI AGAIN. THANKS ALSO FOR REPLYING. YOU WERE EXTREMELY HELPFULL. TONSILS USUALY RETURN TO NORMAL SIZE WHEN CHILDREN GROW UP AND BUILD THEIR OWN ANTIBODIES. NORMALLY WHEN THEY GET 8YEARS OLD AND MORE. THEY BEGIN TO SHRINK AND TO RETURN TO NORMAL SIZE. IF THEY DO NOT MAKE PROBLEMS FROM NOW TILL THEN, SO THEY CAN BE LEFT WITHOUT BEING REMOVED. I READ ABOUT THEM AS YOU TOLD ME AND I FOUND THIS AS A CONCLUSION.IF THE CHILD HAS 5 OR MORE INFECTIONS OR IF WE SAY TONSILITTIS IN ONE YEAR, OR HAVE TROUBLE BREATHING AT NIGHT, OR FIND DIFFICULTY IN SWALLOWING, IN EATING OR HAVE PROBLEMS IN EARS, THEY SHOULD BE REMOVED. IF NOT THEY CAN LEFT TILL THEY SHRINK ON THEIR OWN.THANKS AGAIN FOR TAKING TIME TO REPLY. YOU WERE A GREAT HELP TO ME. I FEEL MUCH MORE RELAXED AND I THINK THAT I WILL WAIT AND SEE. WHAT I AM SURE OF IT IS THAT YOU HELPED ME. AND GOD ALWAYS HELP ME IN MY LIFE. SO IF YOU NEED ANYTHING, I MEAN ANYTHING YOU CAN SEND ME AN EMAIL AND I WILL BE THERE TO HELP YOU AS MUCH AS I CAN.
