Wrong Diagnosis - Will this impair my ability to get health insurance?

I currently have health insurance. I work for a non-profit that may be out of business in a couple of weeks and am concerned that I cannot get an individual health policy when my cobra runs out.

5 years ago I went to the emergency room because I thought I may have contracted genital herpes. The doctor did no tests, drew no blood, no swab, nothing. He said that it was herpes and went on his way. I have had subsequent tests and they have come back negative. My ex-girlfriend has also tested negative.

How do I go about getting this corrected?
If I can't get this corrected, will this affect my ability for an individual health insurance policy?

  • Probably not, this is not a diagnosis as it was ruled out. Don't mention it. I don't think it would count anyway- not exactly a high cost disease, but insurance companies are pretty evil, so you never know!I currently have health insurance.
