Hi i have been sufering from many neurological probolems for a long time. I go through spells or attacks then they go away, but when they come back they are worse than ever. IT started out with just numbness and tingling a lot. The first major thing that happened was when my leg went paralyzed for a while. By the time i got to the hospital it was better, so the doctors did not take me seriously. I would suffer from this type of attacks then a few years ago i began to get new symptoms. I became so tired and exhausted. I lost strength to do normal things. I also began to get shooting and electrical pains down my neck, arms, legs, fingers and toes. Sometimes this would lock my finger and toes in place. Here is also where i started to get dizzy all the time. it still alternated in attacks. Then about a year ago is when my leg started twitching enough to make it kick. i went to the hospital they medicated me and sent me home. the next day it was still doing it so they admitted me and ran tests said that i must be depressed. i went to a therapist and was put on Zoloft. it was convient for them that my attack settled down then. but after a few months another attack came on. so tired again, dizzy, numb, tingly, electrical pains and new symptoms. My vision became blurry and i began loosing strength in my hands. i have no depth perception and my legs are so weak that i cant walk a straight line. i am uncoordinated with my hands, trying to grab something i see and it not being where i think it is, like over reaching. i was having trouble concentrating, and even had memory loss. the most recent visit to the hospital was for my left side of body going numb. i asked for a refferal for a new neurologist because the last one blew me off. i have had MRI done but nothing yet. can it be MS, maybe in early stage? help

  • Please let me know how your MRI's turn out. I have been having the same problems, it does sound like you might have MS. I'm convinced I have MS but I've taken all the tests - blood work, MRI of brain & Spine, and Spinal Tap - all test turn out fine. I've been doing a lot of research on the internet, and I've read quite a few stories like yours. Keep trying different Dr.s and retake the tests until something shows up.

  • Please consider neurological symptoms can be caused by nutritional deficiencies - often they can be severe and debilitating. Plear read Sally Pacholok's (sp) post on B12 deficiency - it is very good. EFA's, folic acid, magnesium, B5, potassium, riboflavin, b12, vit E, can all cause various neurological symptoms. If you aren't taking any vitamin supplements consider starting. The best thing to do is visit a naturopath or holistic doctor who can advise you on this... Western MD's have had very little training in nutrition. Most just aren't taught to look for it and often it is hard to diagnose. Best wishesDOM

  • To Lisa: I will let you know how my new neurologist turns out. Have you been again recently since all your stuff became negative? It is a long and hard process, and really i'd rather know than not know. But i have met a few people who have been diagnosed without MRI showing anything or Spinal tap showing anything, they were finally diagnosed based on symptoms, then about 5 years later there first lesion became visible. They just have to get bigger oor our technology has to get better. To acuaanThank you for your reply. I have been down this route and its not me. I have all healthy levels and have plenty of vitamins daily.

My neuroligist found Lyme after a year(maybe much more) of symtoms.Jane

  • this is more common then I thought! I have the same sort of symtoms, my dizzy spells knock me over and I cannot move or get up (Drop Attacks) for 5 - 30 Mins. I have had these problems for approx 5 years.. All the tests MRI, bone marrow, CTs, Spinal, xrays. etc... they find some results, but not conclusive... I have granulomas, C reative protein is high, Sed Rate is high, and ANA is positive. They still say they cannot DX.?? I am still waiting for more tests.. Good luck to everyone.
