I had a hysterectomy about 10 months ago and about three months after I started have vaginal itching, burning, dryness, soreness aqnd everything else that makes you miserable. 6 months, 7 doctors later I just got a diagnosis of atrophic vaginitis. I have suffered almost unbearable days during this time and I want to be sure no one else goes through this. I was given medication after medication to treat infections which only made me worse. I became so depressed and disgusted with the entire gynecological field. I couldn't believe that as much modern technology as there was and I was having to suffer the way I did with no answer as to what was wrong. I finally came across an older Doctor with several years of experience and after several prayers I think I have finally found at least a diagnosis. I actually seen doctors that didn't even take the time to do tests to try to find out what was wrong they only wanted to assume and treat. Please if you are suffering from this and you are menopausal or have had a hysterectomy mention this to your doctor. Tell him you want to be tested for atrophic vaginitis. After all that's what you are paying him for. I suggest finding and older doctor with experience. i hope no one has to suffer like I did unable to find help for so long.
