As ugly as the tongue is, I am having problems with mine and have had trouble off and on for years. It is getting to the point that it hurts to eat or talk. My tongue is swollen with deep ridges all throughout my tongue. It don't look right. I also have dryness throughout my entire mouth. It may be something simple, but what is it? Please help! :(

  • Are you taking any meds? Do you have diabetes or MS? Do you have a thick tongue coating>? If so is it yellow? Can you take a pic and post it here? I am a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and tongue diagnosis is very important in my profession. Deep cracks are a sign of yin deficiency. Do you have any symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, dry skin, insomnia? Any other symptoms other than your tongue hurting? If you have a thick coating and your tongue hurts this could be thrush, a yeast/candida infection. Best treatment for this is to get Threelac and place it on the tongue until it is completely melted. Pure unsweetened yogurt on the tongue is soothing as well. Google Threelac and candida for more info. Please don't take the Western antifungal meds - these are extremely toxic. Best wishes.DOM

  • I have the same symtoms including night sweats, insomnia and very dry skin. My tongue is coated, though I would say it's not white or yellow, but more of a white. What is a yin deficiency?
