When I was eight i had my first wrong diagnoses. I had severe lower abdominal pain. My parents brought me to the ER and I had an emergengy appendectomy. Turns out it was a lymph node that had become enflamed. For the next 20 years I had endless stomach issues. Most of the time my complaints were brushed off as bad periods or as hormonal and was told to seek therapy. One bad pap turned into a diagnoses of Severe Endometriosis and Cervical Displasia. I was told if I had a child the edometriosis would subside. I was single. And needed a colposcopy and someother treatments for the Dysplasia. I had finally had enough and after beeing again diagnosed with cysts on my tubes and heavy painful periods. A nurse practitioner gave me a number of a doctor who would give me a hystorectomy. telling me there are millions of babies in the world that would love a home with me. I believed everything they said to me and felt I had suffered enough. I sought out this "miracle doctor" and without so much as a pelvic exam agreed to do it. I went to therapy and prepared my self for this life changing surgery. Early surgical menopause sounded scary but i was tough. The day of the surgery came, my family was there to support me. About a half hour after the doctor cut into me she was very surprised to find 20 years of scar tissue that had bound every lower organ in my body including my bowels. She went out to my mother and said "Your daughters pain is justified" letting her know that another surgeon was being called in to cut away and undo mess that she had found. It took an hour to find my uterus. And when she did she took it out anyway. My question is shouldnt she have woken me up and told me what the real problem was? And then given me atleast the option to proceed or not? I feel..well angry. Now I have found the perfect man and we a getting married. I regret ever having had listened to anyone. I geuss maybe its my fault because i let them brush me off at the beginnig. But maybe this story will help someone else stand up for themselves. make noise people. If you dont it could change your life forever.Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
