I'm a 45 yr old female. For years I was told I was depressed, but had all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Every doctor told me I was normal in thyroid levels. Several put me on anti-depressents. Well, I got so sick, I thought if I would die at least I would find some relief. Some of my symptoms included: fast weight gain (went from an 8 to a 12 fast), headaches (daily), brain fog, inability to concentrate, overall unwell feeling, weakness, extreme fatique, inability to maintain an exercise program. I finally found a dr who put me on thyroid med. Then I faced a bout of extreme anemia due to heavy periods. I was almost at the transfusion point. I took iron to get back on track. I have been better, but here it is Years later I'm still weak, facing fatique, unable to maintain an exercise program, still have trouble concentrating and am a size 16. Doctors again said I was depressed (yet again) and put me on meds. Needless to say they do not work. I did go to a psyc and he said (after 6 visits) you're not depressed, but you are feeling depression around energy levels and inability to meet your goals.
I'm at a loss. Doctors are not helpful. I'm going for a neurological test later this month.. Any other suggestions... thanks.
