I was diagnosed 5yrs ago with lupos, but I never had the butterfly rash.I had ared spot rash that appeared all over my body.I had low platelet count up to the point i was hospitalized.I am 36yrs old I have 5 kids and I had 2 abortions.I am really afraid that after all these years they could have diagnosed me wrong and i could have syphillis.I am always getting blood work done I have had a total hip re-placement.Since reading some of what peeople has said makes me wander because before i met my husband i was very sexual active.Do you have any advice

  • Just a bit of info..If you have a postive lupus anticoagulent and/or a anticardiolipin antibody present in your blood ... you can get a FALSE postive syphillis result..having one or both of these is a condition called "antiphospholipid antibody syndrome"... and many people that have lupus also have this.... It is a blood clotting problem and can cause low platlets... you might want to look this up and ask your dr. and if you have SLE form of lupus you dont necessarily have a rash.. its more internal.

  • Just a bit of info..If you have a postive lupus anticoagulent and/or a anticardiolipin antibody present in your blood (which DRS normally do not test for but you can ask for the test called a VIPER ) ... you can get a FALSE postive syphillis result..having one or both of these is a condition called "antiphospholipid antibody syndrome"... and many people that have lupus also have this as well as some whom do not have a positive ANA have this as well.... It is a blood clotting problem and can cause low platlets and if left untreated can be life threatening... you might want to look this up and ask your dr. and if you have SLE form of lupus you dont necessarily have a rash.. its more internal. You can also have a FALSE positive HIV test with this.. sorry I needed to add some changes..you can locate all this info at APS foundation of America.
