My daughter (27) lives in Dallas; she has been through a series of treatments with a dentist and then an oral surgeon. She suggested weeks ago that her mysterious condition was Actinomycosis, or Lumpy Jaw. It took a few more weeks before both doctors actually agreed. By that time (last Friday) she had had oral surgery and been on various antibiotics for at least 2 months - all to no avail. Both docs admit they don't really know what to do, as this is a pretty rare condition. She is frantic to find the right doctor who will understand, treat aggressively and help her NOT lose her jaw, contract meningitis or die from this. There is now a staph infection as well, so there are two different problems. She feels strongly that the lumpy jaw is the one nost in need of agressive treatment. I am wondering if anyone can tell us what TYPE of doctor she should be seeing - surely there is a specialist who can really treat this condition with confidence in the Dallas area! PLEASE HELP!!!Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
