lumbar fusion OOPSIE ... now rods?

I recently had a two-level lumbar fusion performed by a top neurosurgeon at one of Phoenix's leading hospitals...only one minor problem, the doctor 'forgot' to take the discs out from between the vertebrae. As I understand it (and you bet'cha - Sara Palin - I am pursuing legal action) I now have a torn disc, discs bolted in place against the nerve roots, no evidence of bone fusion, leaking spinal fluid, a smashed disc above the fusion hardware, a spine that has moved and tilted ... and now they want to remove all the hardware and insert rods.

I am hardly impressed, and in trying to find a replacment surgeon, I have been told by another neurosurgeon that another surgery won't help vs. the conditions stated above vs. two surgeons from Barrow's saying they won't see me because I "had surgery locally." Can you say old-boys club?

And to think, this is the kind of free healthcare Obama is going to give away for free!

Think twice before you let fancy backgrounds, education, fellowships, etc. convince you that you've got the best doctor ... my best doctor is the one who has sat down and reveiwed every single instance of complication and provided answers, not egotism.

Funny how two little offending discs that were already pushing on nerve roots could cause such a problem when left between vertebrae then bolted into place.
