I seem to be using too much toilet paper/wiping too hard and have developed an itch that drives me nuts at times. The only relief is more wiping. My bowels are somewhat loose and I go 3-4+ times per day. There is occasionally a small amount of blood from the irratation, not in stool. I've tried occasional vaseline or vitamin creme, but not steadily. 2-3 year symptoms, embarrassing to say.

Anyi ideas for relief?

  • I would go to the pharmacist and buy a good antibacterial soap (ask for the kind they use ing the hospitals). I would also get an antifungal spray or cream (the kind used for jock itch or atheletes foot, the spray will last longer and go further but you have to be able to reach the area to spray). Wash 2 x day with the antibacterial soap and after each wash apply the antifungal. If it is a fungal rash it should improve in 3 days(if it improves keep up th treatment for 14 days), if it hasn't imporved you may need to get some diaper rash ointment to protect the area from the diarrhea. Try to get something to stop the diarrhea that may be the cause of your problem.

  • Are you male or female? My hubby had the same issues and could not figure it out so went to the doctor. He was told that in the winter, he adds more layers of clothing to keep warm while working outdoors and sweats. The sweat travels down the back and you got it, down to the anus causing a lot of itching and some irriation. He was given some cream to clear it up and never had the problem again. • Parasites and bacteria live in your colon and an itchy rear means the bad stuff outweighs the good bacteria needed to keep the colon healthy. All that wiping is just cleaning up the fluid leaked by the bad bacteria or parasite, which is irritating the skin around the anus. The fact that you have loose movements 3-4 times a day, indicates you have a problem of bad bacteria/parasites in the colon. The two things you can do to get rid of the problem completely, is 1. do a colon cleanse and a parasite cleanse, 2. use a probiotic supplement to keep the good bacteria in your colon. You can search the web to find the many different products for cleansing, and the probiotics can be found at your local health food store or from vitamin companies on the web.

  • It could be Candida. I know this may sound weird, but the itchiness might respond to uv light. If you can find someplace to sunbathe nude privately and expose the area to the sun for even a short period it can help relieve the itching. You may have to spread your cheeks apart a bit to expose the anus to the sun. No, I am not being cheeky! ;-)I had luck with this method. I learned it from my sister who treated an external yeast condition on her vulva by sunbathing nude. Just don't fall asleep! You could try a uv light sun lamp but be careful! UV light is a more natural method than creams, but you don't want to get a burn there. But you might want to look at why you might be having these problems (diet!) Cut the sugar intake if you consume sugar.

  • As you mention a bit of blood that is not in the actual feaces, as well as itch...It could be a fisher. Perhaps a small unhealing wound right on or just inside the butt. I have had one for years and although sometimes it is very painful, mostly it is just itchy and occasional bits of red blood

  • After cleanliness by all means CONSIDER DIET as the source of the itch.Increase fiber and tract your food intake everyday for a week or so. A majorreason for butt itch is from foods that do not agree with your body. Your body cannot digest them properly or completely. Nearly every type or kind of food will cause some person a problem. But the most common foods causing an itchy butt are milk (lactose) eggs, nuts, and gluten. Try eliminating these item from your diet one by one for at least a weeks time. Then most likely you will find the food causing you a problem. Milk can be replaced with lactose free milk.
