My 36 yr old daughter was on her way to work, when she started feeling light headed. She pulled her car into a parking lot and by the time she put the car in park, her heart was racing, chest pain, her arms were numb, she was very weak, and she had a pain going down her neck. When the ambulance arrived her heart rate and blood pressure had fallen well below the normal level. She was taken to the hospital and they took every test for a heart attack. They ruled out,the heart attack, put a 30 day monitor I don't know, and told her she could return to work. She left the hospital a week ago she still feels weak and has shortness of breath if she moves around too much. She told them she was aenemic and had a murmur since birth, but all they checked for was a heart attack. What other test should she have?

  • Electron beam tomography angiography (ebta) will track down whatever her problem is. You may have to pay for it because not all insurance will cover it. You may also need to track down a test center for the test in a large metropolitan area. It should be worth it; that is what I would want my daughter to do.

  • Thank You,for the advice and I will be checking today to find out where she has to go for the test.I'm really concerned ,she's my baby.Would having a constant headache and chest discomfort since this happened, fall into the same catagory for having this test? How is the test done?

  • It's going to check her heart only. I'm not sure how it works, via beams & magnetism, but it catches what other heart tests miss and it is totally non-evasive. See if you can locate a test center near your home. There is one in LA, Tucson, Denver...you can find sites if you look. The headaches are a concern, too. She maybe should see a neurologist.
