I contracted HVC in the summer of 2005, because i was receiving treatment for a unrelated matter it was noted that i had caught this virus during a six week period. because of the acute nature it was decided by my consultant and myself to begin treatment with interferon immeaditaly. the course lasted 6 months. two weeks prior to the course ending i moved to another part of the country. after explaining my situation to my new doctor he ordered a test to see if i had the virus still. in December 2006 i was given the bad news that i indeed had. however some months later i find that this doctor had ordered a antibody check and not the PCR test that was required. I had weeks of depression due to this act. now in march 2007 i await the result of the correct test to see if i still have the virus.
