Child is 9 years old. 6 months ago he developed a high fever but had recovered. 4 Weeks ago while at the lake his hands and feet went stiff and distorted his body went ridget and he was screaming in pain. Rushed him to hospital, they found he he was not absorbing potassium. He is still in hospital, he cannot eat, he has lost a lot of weight. He cannot digest food. He vomits and/or has cronic diarrea. Tried changing his diet (no glutten) no change. Tried tube feeding, he vomited. He has no energy, loosing too much weight. They have tested him for everything. Chrones, ciliac, arthoritis, bowel, scoping, digestive etc......too many to mention. Today he is receiving a bone marrow test. Doctors do not know what is wrong with him? Can anyone help, is there something that is being missed?

Child is at the Winnipeg Children's Hospital in Canada.

He had surgery and is fine now at age 60. I'm sorry the little boy is suffering so much. I hope this helps.

That could explain the seizure (migraines and seizures some think are related) like episode. This is treated with anti-seizure meds. Have they monitered him for at least 72 hours with video EEG for seizure activity? Also, what about the autoimmune diseases? antiphospholipid syndrome, lupus, etc. They can be mysterious. Does he have elevated ANA levels? The other thing- is his liver functioning? That should be checked and things like Wilson's ruled out (rare but worth ruling out every possible rare disease that ever made a child vomit, when a child's life is at stake, in my opinion)What about poisening? Heavy metal poisening? This can be inadvertant, over long periods of time etc.
