Pain started 5 years after gallbladder removal. Severe pain on right side under ribs like a knife twisting thru to the back. It's like labor pains and last for about 8 to 10 hrs. or untill pain mediction is taken or pressure seems to go away. Pain then ends like a light switch has been turned off. Have had this happen at 5 years 5 years later then 2 years later then 2 years after that then 1 year later!!! oxyocodone helped this time, but have had numerous tests done after 5 trips to the ER, about $ 40,000 worth!!! What is causing these extreme attacks so severe I throwup from pain and sweats!!!

What is causing these extreme attacks so severe I throwup from pain and sweats!!!I've had the EXACT same thing going on for the past 6.5 years. If you find out what is going on then please let me know. I have had ultrasounds and a cat scan done on my abdomen and nothing was ever found, except that my liver was fatty at the time.....probably due to the fact that I had just had a baby and gained weight, then lost it very quickly. I've tried to keep a journal of what seems to "trigger" the attacks, but I have not found anything that triggers them. Sometimes they just happen for no apparent reason. They do not occur on a regular basis. I had one.....then another about a year later.....then several more a few months later, and then I went through a 2 month period where I was having them just about every other day. They just come and go......and I've exhausted myself over the years with medical doctors trying to figure out what was going on. At my last appnt., my doctor mentioned that I could possibly be suffering from ulcers.. I was scheduled to have my stomach examined with a microscope, but we are a military family and moved soon after. Now I just need to inquire with my new doctor about having it done here.I know how bad you feel.......everyone thinks you are making a big deal out of nothing, but the pain is.....OMG.....it's excruciating!!!! I've had 3 children and the pain is a lot worse than labor.....although it feels crampy, tight, and constricting to your abdomen and back and chest the way that labor feels. It's horrible =( I wish I could help. I'm still trying to figure it out myself......but whatever you have sounds EXACTLY like what I have going on.

  • I also had this problem and went for a procedure that put a probe down my throat and through my stomach. They did a liver biopsy but also cut away some scar tissue that had started to block my bile duct. The pain comes from the bile duct being blocked and that is why it feels just like you have a repeat bout of gallstones.I am now 15 yrs since gallbladder removal and 7 years since the getting the scar tissue shifted. I am still careful what I eat and find that I can't eat extremely fatty foods or drink softdrink unless it has gone a bit flat.Hope this helps

  • Thanks for the input ... That's what I've been telling the doctors for 15 years and they look at me like I don't know what I'm talking about ... been to the ER 3 times and almost died the last time after they found a small kidney stone in which they tried to take out and put me in septic shock for which took me a week to get out of the ER at Bay medical in Panama city Fla. ..then they had to attempt again to remove Stone in which they did... I will never forget the doctor calling me and telling me they were fixing to put my wife to sleep because she couldn't breathe.. I got to the hospital gave my wife ice to lower her temp and they decided not to put her to sleep in which I know I saved her life by getting there and I told the ER Staff and The operating staff what I thought about them and let's just say it was a Hank Williams Jr. moment !!!!!!!!! Thanks unregistered person from swh22, Ithink I'll get on my knees right now and thank god God !!!
