I am so pleased to find out that I am not the only person to have problems with my Liver after having Gall Bladder surgery two Christmas's ago. The blood count was high for my liver, but it is coming down slowly. As for the stomach pain it has been the worst I have every had, I would rather give birth ! My doctor has prescribed Omeprazol and has upped the dose to 40mgs from
20mgs and it seems to be helping. Apparently I am make lots of acid. I am seeing a Liver consultant at the moment. He rang me last week to say there is a cyst on the liver and two on the panreas, but the are nothing sinister, they are not helping things. I am seeing him again in 6 weeks time for anoth blood test, and if the blood count isn't coming down he thinks a liver biopsy might just show what is going on. Fingers crossed.

It is a great relief that there are others out there. It makes me feel much better about myself. xx

  • If the liver test doesn't find anything, ask them to check the duct function between the pancreas and the liver, and into the small intestine. My sister had her gallbladder taken out years ago, and over the summer was having severe pain in that area. When she went to the ER, they wanted to take it out, then found out she had none! After many months of being sick and in pain, her gastroenterologist decided that it was "in her head" and said she needed to see a psychiatrist. However, she ended up in the ER again a few days after that, with pancreatic enzymes almost 5x normal, and her liver was about to shut down. She got very lucky and was referred to the physician who pioneered the surgery to fix the bile duct issue. Few people with her condition are ever diagnosed, and fewer yet are properly treated. I wish you the best of luck on your journey!

  • Thank-you so much for your reply. I have had a liver biopsy done and it the results have come back normal although my liver count is still high every time I have a blood test. I still have a burning sensation in my throut and at times have lots of stoamch pain. My GP has prescribed Omoprazol 40mgs daily for now till he has heard from the hospital. I feel I am getting somewhere now.Jennifer x
