Hi, I have been sick since 2003. I taught Business Ed. at the local high school for 18 years and got reassigned to help at another school site because I was too sick to be at work most of the time. I've had my gallbladder removed, chronic ovarian cysts until I had a hysterectomy. I have either diarrea (sp), or constipation even when I feel well. I have a stomach that looks as if I am pregnant, I've had weight gain. My normal temperature runs around 96 or 97 so when I have a fever it may only register at 98 or 99. The fever lasts from 3 days to 5 or 6. I feel like my insides are cooking. I notice that my extremities aren't as hot as my abdominal area and the area around my neck. When I have this fever I am not able to function, I usually stay in bed or lay on my couch. My feet usually freeze. I'm almost comotose when I'm in this state and I have severe body aches. I have had extreme dehydration from this and had to get iv fluids multiple times. My lower back hurts all of the time. I have been diagnosed with arthritis and high cholesterol and trig. which I never had problems with until I had been sick a few years. I believe I've had arthritis all my life and wasn't diagnosed. I have had at least 3 colonoscopies, edg's, every test you can imagine and they just say it's IBS, since when do you run fever with that. One major problem is that my immune system isn't functioning. After two days back to work I got strep throat and had to miss two and a 1/2 days of work. I can't list the doctor's I have seen. They prescribe pill after pill and yet I'm still in the same situation. I have no life. I am not the wife or mother that I want to be. I've lost my passion of teaching and feeling like I am important to someone. I'm getting ready to once again try a natural remedy. I'm skeptical. I can not believe that no one can help me. I'm ready to give up and retire early if I can't get any relief. If anyone has the same symptoms or knows anyone who cares enough to treat me I would be forever thankful. I just can't keep living like this.

  • You could very well have a food allergy. I was sick most of my life with one thing or another until I found out I was allergic to milk. I have had biopsies, surgery ... seen multiple specialists and taken drugs for a myriad of symptoms. No I am drug free and healthier than I have ever been. Food allergies: When your body recognizes food proteins as invaders (instead of food) it releases histamine. Histamine is what causes you to itch or have watery eyes, sinus and upper respiratory problems. Most people know that. What you may not know is that histamine causes more than itching, it causes tissue inflamation. Think about it, your eyes get puffy when you have a hayfever reaction. Well, when you have a systemic allergic reaction such as to a food, your entire body is affected.Science calls it an auto-immune disorder triggered by food proteins. Whooey! The body is not attacking itself it is on a seek and destroy mission against the food protein. The rest of the body just gets in the way. Similarly, arthritis is considered an auto-immune disorder - i.e., the body attacking itself. This is baloney. The body is inflamed in reaction to SOMETHING foreign. Your skin swells:- hives in general cause swelling, itching and a sensation of burning.- external hives and itching - urticaria - your skin feels so itchy you want to DIG, also painful to touch such as when a skirt hem brushes against your leg - ouch! External hives usually appear first in an already compromised area (such as near a healing wound) or under elastic, waistband, bra, etc. and high blood flow areas such as scalp, sides of face, between fingers and toes, private area.- internal hives in the respiratory system - asthma, bronchitis, COPD, emphysema, etc.- internal hives in the gastrointestinal system - diarrhea (you may notice a lot of bile and your intestinal walls will secrete copius amounts of mucus in response to internal hives to coat and protect the intestinal walls) a LOT of very smelly gas is produced and can cause the abdomen to protrude, IBD, Celiac disease.Your organs can swell:- heart, liver, lungs, etc.Your joints and muscles can swell:- arthritis, bursitis, chronic fatigue. Some joint and tissue swelling can cause peripheral neuropathy where your "feelings" don't extend all the way to your finger tips and toes. This can also cause your hands and feet to feel cold.Over the years, I have been treated for: projectile vomiting, stomach aches, "heat rash" and "sensitive skin", "growing pains", canker sores, juvenile arthritis, hypothyroidism, early menopause, chronic bronchitis, asthma, dermatitis, diarrhea, constipation, IBD, GERD, depression, anxiety, peripheral neuropathy, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia. Oh, I'm sure there's more I'm not remembering right now.Doctors tried to make me think I was crazy... like when I told him I felt like I was burning from the inside out and that my seemingly normal looking skin hurt to be caressed. Now I know why they are called quacks! Call me paranoid, but I sincerely believe that they just passed me from specialist to specialist because I had really good insurance. It is difficult for me to believe that all my life, with all my problems that are so common to food allergy - no doctor put 1+1 together. I have ZERO health issues now. I take ZERO medicines. I spend ZERO time in doctor's offices and have ZERO bills to match. I have ZERO faith in doctors. As far as I am concerned... they maybe didn't make me sick, but they sure kept me that way. Now they make me sick in a figurative way. I am 45 now and can remember having some of these symptoms as far back as 5 years old. Please try an elimination diet or a food challenge. You can google that online, or just eat nothing but PLAIN white boiled rice and water for a couple of weeks. If your symptoms clear up you have a food allergy. When symptom free, add dairy. You can still eat the rice and also have milk, yogurt, cheese, etc. If no symptoms after 5 days, add eggs to your diet. If no symptoms after 5 days, add cream of wheat. If no symptoms after 5 days, add peanuts... Keep doing this until you hit on what you are allergic to. Your body will tell you. Other top allergens include shellfish, soy, tree nuts, corn, msg, ... you can google that too. Good luck!Grace Hi, I have been sick since 2003.
