I am writing for a friend of mine. She is having some problems right now. She is 45, had been dx as pregnant. Problem is, she had a tubal ligation approx 14 years ago. But, she tried the abortion pills, they didn't work, the doctor now thinks she wasn't pregnant at all. The first doctor she saw put her at approx 2 months along, (11 weeks) the second put her at just 5 to 6 weeks. Now, the doc thinks she may have thyroid problems?? I am wondering if anyone knows of something that may cause pregnancy symptoms? She has lost approximatly 50 to 60 lbs in the last 6 months also. She has been under a lot of stress also, so she had just put that off to the stress. Another problem she has is she also has hepatitis and diabetes. Her blood sugars have been all over lately too. I know she has mentioned that they "bottomed out" at least 3 times in the last week at work to me.
Any help or ideas that anyone can give would be very helpful.

Thanks.

  • They should do an ultrasound of her uterus...it could all be gladular and pre-menopausal...the hep and diabetes could be way out of control. I would get her to an endocrinologist for further evalution, along with the ultrasound...she may need some intervention for the hepatitis.

  • I don't understand - is she still producing pregnancy hormones and still having a positive pregnancy test? Have they done a recent blood test for pregnancy and if so was it positive? If yes, then she needs to get an ultrasound asap and rule out ectopic pregnancy. My aunt also became pregnant after a tubal, and they found out it was ectopic, but it took awhile. If she is still diagnosed as being pregnant they MUST rule this out as it is very dangerous. Next, what type of Hep does she have? Has she done any interferon therapy if it is Hep C? Is she taking insulin or metformin? Please look into acupuncture and Oriental Medicine for your friend. Traditional Chinese Medicine is brilliant in treating Hep C, diabetes, and stress. Please have her try it - it can be so very helpful! Best wishesDOM

  • acuann - if OK, could you please tell us the basic take on TCMs approach to Hep C, stress and diabetes? Thanks in advance. Hi Ralph and Happy New Year to you! For in depth info on TCM treatment of hep C, please look at this link from Misha Cohen's website: http://www.docmisha.com/applying/hepatitis_help/index.html I have several Hep C patients and they have been able to keep their enzyme levels within normal range with the use of Chinese herbs. Misha Cohen has written several books on the subject, and has a special protocol she teaches (I haven't yet had the opportunity to take a class). Basically, there is a toxic heat with underlying deficiency, and usually accompanies liver/spleen disharmony. Diabetes has historically been a yin deficiency pattern, Lung, Spleen, or Kidney yin deficiency. This is called wasting and thirsting pattern. Today, especially in the US there is a pattern of phlegm/damp accumulation as well as Liver/Spleen disharmony. By the way one of the best food therapies for diabetes is to take an organic lime and juice it and combine with a quart of pure water. Drink this daily - it will help keep your blood sugar on an even keel. So easy to do and it really works! Stress is always related to the Liver in TCM. The Liver has the job of promoting the smooth flow of Qi in all of the meridian pathways. Emotions also belong to the Liver. So you can see how stress will cause the Qi of the liver to stagnate, which in turn can cause heat to build up (think of a revved up engine). Or the flipside is the Liver will overact on the spleen causing Liver/Spleen disharmony. Wishing you well, Ralph. Mystry, please update with additional info when you get the chance. Best wishesDOM
