My dad is 74 and is scheduled to undergo a prostatectomy using a resectoscope on 18 june 2006 as treatment for frequent night time urination. We are concerned as to the possible side effects of this surgery. Are there other effective treatments out there without resorting to surgery which I understand may result in permanent incontinence?

  • There are different approaches to prostrate surgery, including a newer therapy called "greenlight therapy" (laser). You can get another opinion, or search docs in your area for different options. Good luck. If your not comfortable seek info until you are!
