For about 5 years, I've had recurrent episodes of debilitating wrist pain that seem to come on for no reason. Now, for the past 2 - 3 years, I've noticed that certain bones, joints, and muscles will ache terribly and I'm more fatigued. It seems like I'm always tired, I can barely walk up one flight of stairs without growing weak. Also, I have unexplained bouts of chills and mild fever and for the past year or so, I've had almost constant stomach upset and lower back pain that no doctor can seem to diagnose. I've been doing some reasearch about lupus, but I'm not sure if that's what I have. My face does seem to be particularly sensitive to the sun and heat, but I'm not sure if that's just me being slightly hypochondriac. Does anybody have any ideas???

  • It could be many different things, lupus is possible, but a lot of these autoimmune diseases and things like it mimic each other with symptoms, so it is hard to differentiate with it all. See a rheumatologist and get some tests done to rule things out and see what it could be. It's a long process to get a diagnosis if it is autoimmune, so hang in there, and I hope you are feeling well!

  • Check out your thyroid antibodies. Also, your TSH should be below 2.0....anything higher should be suspect for hypothyroidism. You can have 'normal' thyroid TSH (between 1-5) and T3/T4 and STILL have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Be sure to check thyroid antibodies.
