Hi there, I'm a 30yr old woman from Perth, Australia and i have been very unwell and still am. I am experiencing a lot of the lupus symptoms, including red rash on my cheeks but it's lighter on my nose.

My mother's family have lots of autoimmune and other diseases including lupus, scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, crohn's disease, ankylosing spondilitis, vitiligo, macular degeneration and more.

My grandmother (mum's mum) and 2 of my aunties (mum's sisters) have lupus, but my mum doesn't - she has IBS and lichens sclerosus.

None of my cousin's have been diagnosed with lupus, but could it be possible that i have it?

My dr wouldn't refer me for these tests yet as he wanted to see how i go for a week or so, and he wasn't sure if mouth spots were common in lupus patients...couldn't he do the test anyway? Especially since I've felt unwell for about 5wks!! The small white spot is at the back of my mouth near my throat ... it's about 3mm, hasn't grown and it's not hairy or fungal like. Is that also a symptom of lupus? Does anyone else have white patches, spots or marks in their mouth?

I would love to here your experiences and advice, thoughts please.
Thanking you so much x

  • Hi,Get the testing done. It is just a blood test and it won't hurt. I have had Lupus and other auto immunes for over 20 years. I just started getting the type of mouth sores you are describing about 2 weeks ago. We are not sure if it is Lupus or Sjorens syndrome. Just get yourself checked out, and good luck.
