it started off several weeks ago when i noticed that when i went to the bathroom, my urine was much different then usual... i seemed to be getting enough liquids everyday, but there seems to still always be a dark yellow color in my urine that sinks to the bottom. i ignored it until lately i have been getting other symptoms that made me start looking for some answers. i am only 20 years old, and i am involved in sports and work out every day whether its running or lifting weights. my muscles seem to be weak the past few days for no apparent reason. also, i noticed a slight/very faint yellow tint to the corner of my eyes but it seemed to disappear. i already did a little research and know that this is linked to bilirium from the liver and problems with the liver, but i was wondering if it could be anything else that i am not aware of. i will admitt, the past few years have involved some heavy drinking at college and i know thats a main factor for damaging the liver. if it is damage to the liver, is it possible that its early enough for me to fix the problem and be healthy?

  • It sounds like you certainly have something to be concerned about, but don't panic. Make an appt. pronto with your doctor and be honest about your drinking and your symptoms. There are varying stages of liver disease, and my hope is that you have alcoholic hepatitis, which is reversible. BUT, the most important thing is to get the tests done, and DO NOT DRINK. If that's what it is, you will be able to recover, but your life will change and at 20 I wish I were given that wake-up call. Best wishes to you, and don't dally on getting medical care. What you don't know CAN hurt you, and the earlier you get treated the better you will be.
