I was hoping somebody could answer a question I have. After taking my mother-in-law to the emergency department after she had had persistent pain in her right side for 3 weeks we found (after ultrasounds) a mass in her liver. We don't know if it's malignant yet, we have to see the surgical oncologist next week. The doctor wrote that the mass was 17.8 cm or 7 inches - can that really be right? That sounds huge to me... I don't know how big "masses" found in the liver generally are, whether malignant or benign. Has anybody else ever come across a mass this size?? As it is we're very worried about it but the size just makes it seem all the more serious. If anyone has input it would be really appreciated. Thanks,
